County jail letter/envelope set from the executed Texas Railroad Killer.
This auction is for a letter from executed Texas serial killer Angel Maturino Reséndiz, also known as the Railroad Killer (8/1/1959 – 6/27/2006). Angel Reséndiz was an undocumented immigrant who made the FBI's Ten Most Wanted List for a series of sexual assaults and murderers committed across the United States in the mid-1980's though the 1990's. Blunt force trauma was his primary method of murder, utilizing rocks and stabbing weapons. He became known as the Railroad Killer as most of his crimes were committed near railroads, which was his method of travel and likely aided in his evading law enforcement. Angel Reséndiz is believed to have committed at least 15 murders in multiple states. He was arrested on 7/13/1999 and subsequently convicted of a single rape and murder in Texas and sentenced to death. Angel Reséndiz was executed on 6/27/2006. When asked if he had any last words he stated, "Yes sir. I want to ask if it is in your heart to forgive me. You don't have to. I know I allowed the devil to rule my life. I just ask you to forgive me and ask the Lord to forgive me for allowing the devil to deceive me. I thank God for having patience with me. I don't deserve to cause you pain. You did not deserve this. I deserve what I am getting." He was 46.
