Anthony Guy Walker is an American criminal and serial killer responsible for the murders of at least six people in Lenawee County, Michigan, between 1975 and 1986. He was born on July 11, 1957, and has a history of violent crimes, including sexual offenses and murder. Walker’s criminal activities have drawn significant attention due to their brutality and the subsequent legal proceedings that followed his confessions.
Walker’s first admitted murder was that of Arleen Salcedo, a 24-year-old woman whose decomposing body was discovered in September 1975. The cause of her death could not be determined at the time, leaving the case unsolved for many years. Following this incident, Walker faced charges for kidnapping and raping a woman in Adrian but only pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct, receiving a few years of imprisonment.
On January 15, 1979, Walker committed a brutal triple homicide involving Yolanda Torres Madison, her infant daughter Jessica, and her friend Theresa Carey. After breaking into Madison’s home with the intent to rob it, he tied up and assaulted both women before shooting them. To cover his tracks, he set the house on fire, which resulted in Jessica’s death from smoke inhalation.
In addition to these murders, Walker confessed to killing Floyd Beatty in March 1979 as part of a contract killing for $2,000. He also admitted involvement in the murder of Daniel A. Staggs while they were both incarcerated in 1986.
In December 2010, advancements in technology and new witness testimonies led to Walker being charged with the murders of Madison and Carey. During his trial, he pleaded guilty to these murders but denied responsibility for setting the fire that killed Jessica. In exchange for his confessions regarding other murders—including those of Salcedo and Beatty—he was not prosecuted for those cases.
Ultimately, Walker was sentenced to three life terms without parole for the triple murder committed in 1979. His attorney suggested that he could be responsible for as many as 30 murders across multiple states, indicating that his criminal career may have been more extensive than previously known.
Anthony Guy Walker remains imprisoned for his heinous crimes and is considered one of Michigan’s most prolific serial killers. His confessions have provided closure to some families but also raised concerns about the extent of his violent history.
