WwII - World War II - No.4
This photograph depicts an artwork piece by Mr. Savitaky a holocaust survivor captured in 1941 and sent to Mathausen Camp. He was freed in 1945.
The scene presented in this canvas reveals events in Buchenwald in spring 1945. Underground activists and communists of the concentration camp accumulated arms and assembled a portable wire-less in a pail. Their faces hardened in tense expectation are lit with hope and ecstatic craving for freedom. They are shown broadcasting the SOS signal.
This is a modern print/photograph post war.
