Letter/envelope set from the New York Butcher of Tompkins Square Park.
This auction is for a letter from New York Butcher of Tompkins Square Park murderer and cannibal Daniel Paul Rakowitz. On 10/19/1989, Daniel Rakowitz murdered his roommate and girlfriend, dismembering and cooking parts of her body up and serving them to the homeless. Her head from found in a bucket of kitty litter at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. Apparently, the couple weren't doing so well as she was trying to give him the boot from her East Village apartment. A jury would find Daniel Rakowitz not guilty by reason of insanity on 2/22/1991. He remains institutionalized.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is one page, dated 7/3/2012, and signed, "Daniel." Rakowitz has enclosed a few newspaper clippings with the letter. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 7/3/2012.
