Letter/envelope set from the executed Gainesville Ripper.
This auction is for a letter from executed Florida serial killer Danny Harold Rolling, also known as the Gainesville Ripper (5/26/1954 – 10/25/2006). Danny Rolling went on a murder spree in August of 1990, killing five college students in Gainesville, FL. He raped several of his female victims and would often mutilate their corpses, decapitating one of them. The grisly scenes earned him his moniker. After being arrested on unrelated crimes, Danny Rolling was linked to the murders and to triple homicide in Louisiana. Just before his trial Danny Rolling plead guilty to the series of Florida murders. He was sentenced to death on 4/20/1994. During his incarceration Danny Rolling became well known for his artwork. He life and crimes were the subject of many books and true crime documentaries. Danny Rolling was executed on 10/25/2006. He was 52.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is three pages on two sheets, dated 4/28/1998, and signed, "Danny." Another romantic communiqé from Rolling, he was quite the lady killer! Lots of artwork, too, and not his usual creepy stuff. Well, I suppose it is still kinda creepy! The original mailing envelope is postmarked 4/30/1998.
