State police said they responded to a call in August 2013 of a 13-year-old female walking along a state road in the dark.

She told police that she could no longer live in her home because her stepfather had been molesting her for the past four years.

The girl had walked about five miles in the dark and cold to get away from her home.

Police obtained a search warrant to collect DNA evidence in Eddie’s residence and lab results corroborated the victim’s story.

Investigators found a mixture of seminal fluid, the minor’s DNA, and Eddie’s DNA. He was arrested on February 24, 2015.

Police said another family member reported that she also was raped by Eddie in early 2003 when she was babysitting his son. She was 14 at the time, but was encouraged by her family not to pursue charges. She was attacked while she was sleeping, and then again a few years later.

During Eddie’s trial, a victim from 2001 testified about his patterns and practices when he molested her. The victim was related to Eddie’s first wife.

A three-day jury trial in January resulted in a unanimous guilty verdict on all counts against Eddie.

“These crimes literally rob children of the joy and natural trust children should be able to experience when they are growing up,” Centre County District Attorney Stacy Parks Miller said. “Knowing juries believe them in these cases is so helpful to their healing process, and we are happy they are on their way to a full and happy life.”
