This auction is for a letter from executed Arizona child murderer Frank Jarvis Atwood (1/29/1956 - 6/8/2022). On 9/17/1984, Frank Atwood kidnapped an eight-year-old girl, striking her bike with his car to knock it over. A paint scratch would later be used to link him to the crime. Frank Atwood was arrested in connection with the kidnapping. The young girl's body wasn't discovered until the following year. Frank Atwood had prior convictions for kidnapping and lewd and lascivious acts on a child in relation to an eight-year-old boy in California, so even without physical evidence there was little doubt what the motive was. He would be convicted and sentenced to death on 5/8/1987. Frank Atwood was executed on 6/8/2022. He was 66.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is two pages on one sheet, dated 4/18/2006, and is signed, "Frank." Atwood has added a two page postscript on a separate half sheet of stationery. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 4/19/2006. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat.
