Drawing and letter from the condemned California serial killer.
This auction is for a drawing from condemned California serial killer Kevin Bernard Haley. Between 1983 and 1984, Haley, with his accomplice and brother Reginald Haley, went on a murderous crime spree that left potentially eight victims dead in its wake. The pair committed multiple rapes and burglaries in home invasion styled crimes. After their arrest in 1984 the pair made statements, implicating themselves in various crimes. Reginald Haley was convicted of robbery, kidnapping, rape, and sodomy. He was sentenced to life imprisonment in 1987. Kevin Haley received two trails, with two murderers being the most serious convictions. He was sentenced to death twice, once in 1988 and once in 2014.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The ink portrait is roughly 9"×11.5" (the paper is 12" in some places) and dated 10/22/1997. Haley has written his name across the top of the paper, "Kevin Bernard Haley." The missive is one page, dated 2/25/1998, and signed, "Kevin." The original mailing envelope is postmarked 2/25/1998. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat. The artwork has also been stored flat.
