Letter/envelope set from the deceased music producing icon.
This auction is for a letter from the deceased American music producing icon Harvey Phillip Spector (12/26/1939 - 1/16/2021). Phil Spector was a musical genius, with a rich legacy far too extensive to begin to detail here. On 2/3/2003, actress Lana Clarkson was shot in the mouth at Phil Spector's mansion in Alhambra, California. He would post $1 million dollars bail while awaiting trial. The defense argued the actress shot herself, while prosecutors alleged the shooter was Spector himself. Phil Spector's first trial, in 2007, ended in a hung jury. His retail in 2008 would end in a second degree murder conviction on 5/29/2009. His bail would be revoked, and he was sentenced to 19 years to life imprisonment. Phil Spector made multiple efforts to get his conviction overturned on appeal, all of which failed. Phil Spector would die of complications related to coronavirus on 1/16/2021. He was 81.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is two pages on one legal sized sheet of stationery and signed, "Phillip." The letter is filled with notions of infatuation and romance with the original recipient. The letter closes with, "Well my little princess angel, I'll close for now simply by telling you, as I do over and over, that I love you very much and miss you more! I bless the day I found you; I want my arms around you; and so I beg you, -let it be me! With all my love from now until eternity," and then signs his name. The original mailing envelope has two printed signatures, one on the front and one on the reverse, and is postmarked 9/12/2019.
