This auction is for a letter from California murderer Robert John Bardo. On 7/18/1989, Robert Bardo murdered actress Rebecca Schaeffer, shooting her in the doorway of her home. He obtained her home address after hiring a private detective, who simply got her address from the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Robert Bardo would be arrested the following day in Arizona, walking erratically in traffic. He would be convicted and sentenced to life without parole in 1991. On 7/27/2007, Robert Bardo was stabbed 11 times by a fellow inmate. He was treated out an outside hospital and returned to prison. Since the murder the United States federal government passed a law prohibiting the Department of Motor Vehicles from giving out home addresses upon inquiry.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is four pages on two sheets, dated 6/28/2006, and is signed, "Robert J. Bardo." Bardo has sent a magazine cut out warning the original recipient of the wages of sin. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 7/14/2006. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve an acid free board. Message me with any questions you might have.
