Jeff Dahmer Plaque!!! BACCHUS!
So much has been said about Jeffrey Dahmer and his crimes. But not much has been explained about this strange item that hung over his blue-draped windows, overseeing his exploits in Apt. 213. Media has most often portrayed Dahmer as a dummy of sorts, fueled by alcohol, rage, and abandonment issues. Sure, there is truth in the underpinnings of his crimes, but it went a bit deeper than that. Jeff had an actual belief system. The plaque that hung above his windows was a depiction of Dionysus from Greek mythology (also referred to as Bacchus). Some thought it was just a random, creepy decoration, but I decided to do some digging myself, since Jeff made it a point to include this item in his infamous altar drawing. I knew that there had to be more to it. I went so far as tracking down the actual mold used to manufacture this item, and making the exact reproduction that you see in the above picture. So…why Dionysus? According to the myth, upon Dionysus’ death, his mother ate his heart and became pregnant. He continued on, after death…the transference of power, of soul, happened from the consumption of the flesh. To Jeff, this was no fairytale. He believed that whomever he ate became a part of him, literally. Food for thought!
