Four page letter/envelope from the executed Oklahoma teen serial killer.
This auction is for a letter from executed Oklahoma teen serial killer Sean Richard Sellers (5/18/1969 – 2/5/1999). On 9/7/1985, Sean Sellers, with accomplice Richard Howard, shot and killed a convenience store clerk. The following year on 3/4/1986 he shot and killed his mother and stepfather in an apparent satanic ritual. Sellers was 16-years-old at the time of his murders. Due to the serious nature of the crimes and the lack of sentencing options other than 7 years to life imprisonment, the jury recommended Sean Sellers be put to death. The Sean Sellers case was celebrated in the Christian media with Sean Sellers becoming the poster boy of the "Satanic Panic" movement that was popular with Christians in the 1980s. Sean Sellers was executed on 2/5/1999. He was 29. Sean Sellers remains the youngest person since the reinstatement of the death penalty to be executed for a crime committed while under the age of 18.
