Letter/envelope set from the executed female serial killer with artwork and poem. Handsome piece!
This auction is for a letter from executed Florida serial killer Aileen Carol Wuornos (2/29/1956 – 10/9/2002). Aileen Wuornos was a female serial killer who killed seven men from 1989 to 1990. She claimed during several trials that the killings were in self-defense, that her victims were would-be attackers and she the victim. Unfortunately for Wuornos, none of the members of any of her juries believed that story and she was sentenced to death on multiple counts. Her case was largely celebrated in the press and continues to be the focus of media coverage. Aileen Wuornos was executed 10/9/2002. When asked if she had any last words she stated, "Yes, I would just like to say I'm sailing with the rock, and I'll be back, like Independence Day with Jesus. June 6, like the movie. Big mother ship and all, I'll be back, I'll be back." She was 46.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is three pages on three sheets, dated 2/27/1992, and is signed, "Aileen." There's an additional handsome "Aileen Wuornos" signatures on the envelope and at the top of the first page. Sometimes Wuornos would print her name in these spots, not the case here. Wuornos has drawn a few of her signature little doddles as well as a Garfield looking cat, which has a little color in it. You don't see too much artwork like this floating around from Wuornos. There's also a poem written on the third page. I've hung on to this one for a while but decided it's time for it to find a new home. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat. Message me with any questions you might have. Thanks for having a look-see.
