Letter/envelope set with pen pal letters from the executed Texas serial killer.
This auction is for a letter from executed Texas serial killer Elroy Chester (6/14/1969 – 6/12/2013). Between 1997 and 1998, Elroy Chester committed five murders, several rapes, and had three attempted murders. Elroy Chester was arrested on 2/8/1998. While in police custody he explained his motives were racially motivated. He had developed a hatred for white people, due to mistreatment he suffered while incarcerated in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Elroy Chester was African American. He would be convicted of one murder and sentenced to death. Elroy Chester was executed on 6/12/2013. He was 43.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive two pages on one sheet, dated 5/18/2008, and signed, "Elroy." Chester has enclosed five letters from a pen pal, four T.D.C.J. Inmate Trust Fund slips, and a T.D.C.J. inmate visitor list. The envelope is postmarked 5/19/2008.
