Letter/envelope set from from the Florida Jacksonville Serial Killer while in county jail.
This auction is for a letter from the Florida "Jacksonville Serial Killer" Paul Durousseau. Between 1997 and 2003, Paul Durousseau raped and murdered at least seven women in Florida and Georgia. While in the Army, stationed in Germany, Paul Durousseau is also suspected in several homicides. Two of his victims were pregnant women. He would be arrested on 2/6/2003, prosecuted for a single murder in Florida, and sentenced to death on 12/13/2007, despite the jury being split on imposing that sentence. In 2017, Paul Durousseau's death sentence was overturned by the U.S. Supreme Court.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is two pages on two legal size sheets of stationery, dated 7/24/2006, and is signed, "Paul." This letter was written while Durousseau was awaiting trial in Dual County Jail. The original mailing envelope, which has a drawing of Marvin the Martian, is postmarked 7/25/2006 with a red NOT CENSORED Department of Corrections, Jacksonville, FL, stamp.
