Drawing by the deceased Texas serial killer.
This auction is for an ink drawing by deceased Texas serial killer Henry Lee Lucas, (8/23/1936 – 3/12/2001). Henry Lee Lucas did enjoy a tall tale or two. And while he did partner up for a while with now deceased Ottis Toole, claiming to be part of the Hand of Death cult, law enforcement didn't know exactly how many victims the pair, if any, were left in their wake. Henry Lee Lucas started confessing to hundreds of murders, and with the help of Texas law enforcement, closed multiple cold cases. He would be convicted of 11 and sentenced to death. He sentenced would be commuted to life imprisonment by then Texas Governor George W. Bush. It was the only death sentence the to-be United States President would commute. There has been a lot of speculation over the Henry Lee Lucas case, even the 11 murder convictions would be debated. Texas Rangers will insist Lucas was the worst serial killer in American history and with their sharp police work they solved multiple homicides that would have never been solved otherwise. In reality they gave Henry Lee Lucas case files, photographs, other evidence to make his confessions seem legitimate, along with an assortment of burgers and ice cream. At the end of the day, it's become pretty accepted he killed maybe three people, including his mother. Henry Lee Lucas died of natural caused on 3/12/2001. He was 64.
