Description

This auction is for an envelope from "Unabomber" Theodore "Ted" Kaczynski (5/22/1942 - 6/10/2023). Between 1978 and 1995, Ted Kaczynski killed three people, and injured 23 others, using mail bombs. The mathematician had chosen to live a simple, solitary life, and began targeting those who threatened the environment. He was arrested on 4/3/1996 after being turned in by his brother and sister-in-law. With prosecutors seeking the death penalty, Ted Kaczynski plead the sheet on 1/22/1998 and received life without the possibility of parole. On 12/14/2021, Ted Kaczynski was transferred to a medical facility from the supermax facility where he had been incarcerated for decades. The reason for the transfer was not specified by the Federal Bureau of Prisons. On 6/10/2023, Ted Kaczynski was found dead in his cell. Reports indicate he had hung himself. He was 81.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The envelope is postmarked 6/23/2015. Kaczynski has enclosed an insert to prevent the envelope seal from sticking to the actual letter, a common issue with prison mail. The insert is unsigned. The envelope and insert come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat. Message me with any questions you might have.
