Letter/envelope set from the condemned California Yosemite Park Killer.
This auction is for a letter from the condemned California Yosemite Park Killer Cary Stayner. In 1999, Cary Stayner murdered two women and two teenage girls near Yosemite National Park. The first three victims were abducted from the hotel where Cary Stayner worked, near the entrance to the park. An anonymous letter led police to their bodies. Two victims were found burned beyond recognition in the truck of their car, with the third being found with her throat cut. The fourth victim was decapitated near the cabin she was staying in. That murder would lead to his arrest on 7/24/1999. He legal team put up a not guilty by reason of insanity defense, which ultimately failed. Cary Stayner would be convicted of the four numbers and sentenced to death.
