The timeline of his crimes began with the murder of Priscilla Culberson on June 24, 1997. Culberson was reported missing after failing to show up for work. Her body was discovered by her daughter in an empty lot near a bus terminal, with evidence indicating she had fought off her attacker.
On July 30, 1997, Gwendolyn Wyche was shot multiple times outside her home. The police initially suspected robbery as the motive. Just two days later, Pok Yeo Kim was murdered during a robbery at her workplace; surveillance footage captured the assailant’s image.
Investigation and Arrest
The investigation into these murders led police to connect the last two victims. They released surveillance footage to the public seeking information about the suspect. A tip from a woman identified her son, Charles Lee Duffy, as the man seen in the video. At that time, Duffy was already on probation for previous convictions related to robbery and auto theft.
Duffy’s identity was confirmed through a partial fingerprint match found at the scene of Yeo Kim’s murder. Despite his mother urging him to surrender, Duffy initially evaded capture until he was arrested while walking alone under suspicious circumstances.
