Tony Lorenzo Bobo, a Memphis native, became known for his involvement in violent crimes in the early 1980s. Bobo and his friends were charged with the armed robbery of the Crisp Grocery Store in Mississippi, based primarily on Joe Dean Felix's evidence. Bobo's violent activities continued while inside, culminating in his second-degree murder conviction in 1985 for the horrific execution of fellow inmate the serial killer Laron Williams at the Tennessee State Penitentiary. Bobo attempted to escape from Riverbend Maximum Security Prison in 1998, stealing a delivery truck and breaking the prison's perimeter gate. His activities resulted in many convictions, including a death sentence for the murder of Carolyn Doyle, highlighting a violent and defiant past.
