This auction is for a drawing from California murderer Robert John Bardo. On 7/18/1989, Robert Bardo murdered actress Rebecca Schaeffer, shooting her in the doorway of her home. He obtained her home address after hiring a private detective, who simply got her address from the California Department of Motor Vehicles. Robert Bardo would be arrested the following day in Arizona, walking erratically in traffic. He would be convicted and sentenced to life without parole in 1991. On 7/27/2007, Robert Bardo was stabbed 11 times by a fellow inmate. He was treated out an outside hospital and returned to prison. Since the murder the United States federal government passed a law prohibiting the Department of Motor Vehicles from giving out home addresses upon inquiry.
