Description

This auction is for a letter from Texas teen serial killer Elmer Wayne Henley. Between 1970 to 1973 Henley participated in a series of murders in Houston, TX, with accomplices Dean Corll and David Brooks. Henley was 17 at the time of his arrest. 28+ teenage boys were abducted, raped, tortured, and murdered by Corll, while Henley and Brooks are believed to have primarily lured the victims, who in some cases were their friends. Another version of events is Corll was a simple-minded man, manipulated by Henley and Brooks, and the pair took a more active role in the murders with Corll. It's not disputed that on 8/8/1973 Henley would shoot and kill Corll and the case broke. It was the highest serial killer body count to date, surpassing the then record of 25 held by California serial killer Mr. Juan Corona. Addition bodies attributed to Henley, Brooks, and Corll would be found, but no additional charges were filed. Henley was sentenced to multiple life sentences.
