Michael Johnson handwritten final poem before commiting suicide on October 2006
15 hours before execution Michael Johnson sliced open his right jugular vein and artery inside the right elbow with a popsicle stick tied to a blade with dental floss.
He had written on his cell wall in blood , « I didn’t do it » . 15 minutes before being found , he was talking to the staff and was awaiting breakfast.
This poem titled In Passing was sent and received by this time.
In Passing
On a leafless branch
Beneath a cloudless sky,
Sits a flower blossom
That caught my eye
It’s smell is sweet
And it’s covered with dew.
Soft and beautiful,
It reminds me of you.
Michael Johnson always maintained his innocence until he passed away on October 19th, 2006.
