This auction is for a letter from deceased child murderer John Evander Couey (9/19/1958 - 9/30/2009). On 2/24/2005, John Couey abducted a nine-year-old girl who he would rape her repeatedly over a series of days before burying her alive. The case received national media coverage. The young victim's body was found on John Couey's property 3/18/2005. On 3/7/2007, he would be found guilty and subsequently sentenced to death on 8/24/2007. John Couey died of natural causes on 9/30/2009. He was 61.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is two pages on one sheet, dated 4/15/2008, and signed, "John Couey." There's a little water damage to both the letter and envelope, looks like it might have seen a little rain? Maybe it was read in the rain? I couldn't tell you as it wasn't initially sent to me. I know not to read letters in the rain! The original mailing envelope is postmarked 4/17/2008. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat. Message me with any questions you might have. Thanks for having a look-see.
