Detailed ink collage artwork by the Alaska double murderer.
This auction is for a detailed ink drawing by Alaska double murderer Carl Abuhl. In 2004, Carl Abuhl became the first inmate in Alaska to murder another inmate. Apparently, Carl Abuhl's cellmate like to brag about his crimes and Carl wasn't having it. He strangled him to death with a bed sheet. Abuhl would receive an additional 30 years on top of the 77 he was already serving for murder. Carl Abuhl was featured on MSNBC's Lock-Up. His interview was memorable. When detailing his first murder, he said, "I smashed his skull. I mean I smashed it. Bad. I think the biggest piece of skull fragment they found was about the size of a half-dollar." Carl Abuhl's apparent motive for the homicide was the victim allegedly getting young women strung out on drugs. Carl Abuhl is suspected to have committed several additional homicides in other states.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The ink drawing measures roughly 11.5"×16.5" and is signed, "Carl W. Abuhl." The dark themed collage artwork was done on a folder. Inmate artwork was traditionally done on envelopes and folders with ink pens due to the lack of basic art supplies. Pieces like this take hours to complete! The drawing comes inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and has been stored flat, folded once. Message me with any questions you might have. Thanks for having a look-see.
