This auction is for a painting by condemned California double murderer and serial rapist James Robert Scott. On 4/22/1986, James Scott broke into a woman's apartment, threatened her with a screwdriver, raped her, strangled her unconscious, beat her with a baseball bat, all before setting her bed on fire. She would survive the attack only to die 2/25/1987 as a result of her injuries. James Scott would be sentenced to death on 5/18/1989. In 2014, James Scott would be linked through DNA evidence to a 11/29/1982 rape and murder. He received an additional sentence of life without the possibility of parole. James Scott is linked to two additional assaults on women.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The painting is 5.5"×7.5", titled Carpe Diem, and does not appear to be signed on the front. On the reverse Scott has signed his name along with specifics related to the painting, including his prison number and the date The artwork was wrapped in cellophane on the front and opens like a greeting card, which is black.
