Signed check from the Indiana serial killer.
This auction is for a signed check from deceased Indiana serial killer Herbert Richard Baumeister (4/7/1947 - 7/3/1996). Herbert Baumeister ran a thrift shop with his wife, living in Westfield, just outside of Indianapolis, in an elegant home called Fox Hollow Farms. The 18 acre property was the perfect place to raise their family, but ol' Herb had other ideas. Starting sometime in the 1980s Herbert Baumeister started killing gay men. Initially he would dump the bodies of his victims off the Interstate 70, between Indianapolis and Columbus, OH. Once he moved into Fox Hollow Farms, it became an in-home operation. It's believed he would invite victims to his house under a guise of sex and would then drown them in the indoor pool. His wife, Juliana Baumeister, was apparently unaware of her husband's "extracurricular" activities. Eventually, Herbert Baumeister became a suspect in the multiple disappearances in and around the area. After the police unearthed close to a dozen bodies on the Fox Hollow Farm properties a warrant was issued for Herbert Baumeister's arrest. He fled to Canada and shot himself on 7/3/1996. His suicide note didn't answer any questions about the serial killings. It's believed Herbert Baumeister killed at least 20 men. He was 49.
