Letter/envelope set from the deceased Alabama serial killer.
This auction is for a letter from deceased Alabama serial killer Daniel Lee Siebert (6/17/1954 – 4/22/2008). In 1979, Daniel Siebert was convicted of manslaughter in Nevada. He was eventually questioned in connection to an Alabama murder and confessed to a series of homicides and rapes, including that of several young children. He would strangle or stab his victims to death with sexual assault being the motive behind his crimes. By Daniel Siebert's count he had murdered 12 people. He was sentenced to death in Alabama. After having an execution date set in 2007, he was diagnosed with cancer. Daniel Siebert's execution was postponed, and he died the following year on 4/22/2008. He was 53.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is nine pages on five sheets and signed, "Daniel." Siebert writes about some of his most favorite topics, including serial murder, other serial murder cases, and artwork. In the letter he writes, "'Maybe a dozen, maybe more, I try to put those things out of my mind.' I don't actually recall saying that, but that that time you have to realize I was in a very cloudy mental haze. So I could have said it, and not remembered. It's a pretty accurate statement, none the less." If you want a letter going into detail about serial murder, rape, torture, necrophilia, and the like, this is it. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 7/3/1996. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat. Message me with any questions you might have. Thanks for having a look-see.
