This card from the Sea Cove Gallery has a painting of Frank Walsh on the front. A really nice greeting card but the date on it is what makes it rare because it shortly after she was brought back from Canada. Laurie had escaped from her facility in Wisconsin. She fled to Canada and stayed there temporarily until she was brought back. Shortly after that she was released.
Great murder story! Some people believe till now that she did it.
This case is just great! Mind boggling…cold hearted killer or was it evidence planted by cops. You decide!
This card is beautiful and the date on it is significative! It’s signed in full Laurie Bembenek
Beautiful model and Calendar girl , to female police officer and then to cold blooded murderer? She was convicted of killing her husbands Ex-wife. Many to this day believe she was set up and others believe she was guilty! Sensational case from the early 80’s…she even escaped from prison and fled to Canada to be caught and brought back to the United States. She always maintained her innocence! She was just brought back from a Canadian prison after being on the run. She had escaped from the Taycheedah Corr. facility to Canada. Now she’s back at that facility.
Lawrencia Ann "Bambi" Bembenek (August 15, 1958 – November 20, 2010), known as Laurie Bembenek, was an American former police officer’s wife, convicted for the 1981 murder of her husband's ex-wife.
Her story garnered national attention in 1990 after Bembenek escaped from Taycheedah Correctional Institution in Wisconsin and was recaptured in Thunder bay Ontario Canada, an episode that inspired books, movies and the slogan "Run, Bambi, Run".
Upon winning a new trial, Bembenek pleaded no contest to second degree murder and was sentenced to time served and ten years' probation in December 1992. Four years after, she sought to have the sentence overturned.
