Kelli Elizabeth Yingling is a woman from
California who has been charged with the murder of her mother, Peggi
Yingling. The body of Peggi Yingling was discovered in a locked
closet in their home, wrapped in plastic. After not seeing Peggi
Yingling for several weeks, a neighbor asked the police to conduct a
welfare check, leading to the discovery.
Kelli
Yingling pleaded not guilty. She had been in custody at King County
Jail since May 7 on unrelated charges prior to the discovery of the
body. In a case involving her mother, she was convicted of elder
abuse in 2023. During the autopsy, authorities found signs of
strangulation. During Kelli Yingling’s interview with detectives,
she was implicated in the murder. If convicted, Kelli Yingling faces
a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

A 37-year-old
Hanford, California, resident named Kelli Elizabeth Yingling was
accused of killing her mother, Peggi Yingling. Authorities found the
elderly woman’s body in a closet, wrapped in a plastic bag, inside
their house. The terrible event was discovered when a neighbor asked
for a welfare check after not seeing Peggi for several weeks.
Officers entered the home and discovered the elderly woman’s body
wrapped in plastic bags and locked in the closet. An autopsy
indicated signs of strangulation, confirming that her death was not
natural. When Kelli Yingling was taken into custody on homicide
accusations, she was already incarcerated for other offenses. In
relation to the murder of her mother, the District Attorney’s
Office also filed charges against her for elder abuse.
Kelli
Yingling entered a not guilty plea in response to the accusations.
She had been detained at King County Jail since May 7 on unrelated
charges before the corpse was found. In 2023, she was found guilty of
elder abuse in a case that also involved her mother. During the
autopsy, the authorities discovered evidence of strangling. Kelli
Yingling confessed to her involvement in the murder during her police
interrogation. She could spend 25 years of her life in jail if found
guilty.
It’s still unknown why Kelli killed her.
Authorities are still investigating the case to determine the causes
of this unfortunate tragedy.
