Hard carved woodwork by the Alaska double murderer.
This auction is for a Sea Wolf carved by Alaska double murderer Carl Abuhl. In 2004, Carl Abuhl became the first inmate in Alaska to murder another inmate. Apparently, Carl Abuhl's cellmate like to brag about his crimes and Carl wasn't having it. He strangled him to death with a bed sheet. Abuhl would receive an additional 30 years on top of the 77 he was already serving for murder. Carl Abuhl was featured on MSNBC's Lock-Up. His interview was memorable. When detailing his first murder, he said, "I smashed his skull. I mean I smashed it. Bad. I think the biggest piece of skull fragment they found was about the size of a half-dollar." Carl Abuhl's apparent motive for the homicide was the victim allegedly getting young women strung out on drugs. Carl Abuhl is suspected to have committed several additional homicides in other states.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The Sea Wolf woodwork was hand carved by Carl Abuhl. The overall dimensions are 14.5"×10.25". The inlays are abalone shell. Abuhl carved his initials on the reverse with the Roman numeral, "XXVI." These take anywhere from 20 to 30 hours to make from start to finish. This is an extremely handsome piece of craftsmanship! Like it's super nice! Message me with any questions you might have. Thanks for having a look-see.
