"No! It's not even conceivable. Not him," said Victoria Law-Thomson, Warner's mother.
Matthew Warner killed his daughter in their home Jan. 23, 2015 while the child's mother was at work. Matthew Warner said the newborn had been kidnapped, and a search began for Ellorah Warner. He later led authorities to the infant's body, which he had hidden in the cab of his truck in a nearby parking lot. Authorities charged 30-year-old Matthew for a long list of disturbing acts, which includes murder, assault on a child causing death, torture, oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child under 10, and aggravated sexual assault of a child.
… you made some really idiotic choices.
The Murder
After his daughter went missing on January 23, 2015, Matthew was apprehended by police on January 24, 2015. After being apprehended, he led police to a pickup truck a mile from his Newhall, California, home. Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies discovered the 19-day-old Ellorah's body inside the truck's cab. At the scene, she was pronounced dead.
Nan Allison, Ellorah’s grandmother, claimed that Tawni Wallis, Matthew’s girlfriend, left for work at a daycare facility on the morning of January 23, 2015. Later in the day, according to Nan Allison, she heard crying coming from the room that Matthew and the baby’s mother shared.
Nan Allison attempted to dial 911, but the phone had been disconnected. When she returned home after going to a neighbor to make the call, Matthew and the infant had vanished. On the afternoon of January 23, 2015, neighbors described seeing Matthew carrying a bundle out of the house.
Matthew went to the police that evening with the baby’s mother at 9:30 to report the child missing. Before Matthew was taken into custody, 50 officers conducted a nighttime search. Nan Allison added that she believed Matthew had exhibited more agitated behavior than usual on the day of the infant’s death.
Matthew was on supervised release from prison following a 2012 arrest and conviction for joyriding. According to the LA County district attorney’s office, he’s been convicted three times of joyriding since he was 18. Matthew’s mother said that her son had a history of drug addiction. She said, “I still believe in you. I just wish you’d reacted different. I think you made some really idiotic choices.”
A vigil was held for Baby Ellorah Rose on the night of January 27, 2015 at Old Orchard Park in Newhall, California. Matthew’s mother said she didn’t understand what happened, “That’s something like a parent’s worse nightmare that someone in the human race could behave so inhumanely, with no regard … and to someone just barely three weeks. I don’t get it.”
Matthew had been held on a bail of $2.25 million after facing a judge in San Fernando Superior Court on January 27, 2015. As at Oct 10, 2019, Matthew Warner was in custody at the Mule Creek State Prison in Ione, CA. Baby Ellorah’s mother was not charged with any offense related to the murder.
