Carla Faith is a former daycare owner who was sentenced to six years in prison on child abuse charges and for attempting to influence a public servant. She was found guilty on 26 counts of misdemeanor child abuse. The charges stemmed from an incident where authorities discovered 26 children hidden behind a false wall in the basement of her daycare, Play Mountain Place, in late 2019. The children were found in soiled or wet diapers and were sweaty and thirsty. Many parents reported that their children suffered trauma, including sleep and anxiety issues, because of their time at the daycare. Faith was also fined $500 for operating a childcare facility without a license.
This was a dungeon.

Carla Faith, a
former daycare owner in Colorado Springs, was recently sentenced to
six years in prison for operating an unlicensed daycare facility
where children were found hidden behind a false wall. Carla Faith was
convicted on 26 counts of misdemeanor child abuse. She was also found
guilty of attempting to influence a public servant (a felony charge).
Additionally, she faced a misdemeanor charge for running a child care
facility without a license. Faith jumped a fence to avoid the
licensing specialists.
Law enforcement came on the
property, but Faith would not open the gates to allow police to
enter. Once law enforcement and the licensing specialists gained
access to the property, they could hear loud music and children
crying.
Since 2015, Play Mountain Place and Faith’s
other unlicensed business, Counterpoint Preschool, racked up 77
violations. In late 2019, authorities discovered children behind a
false wall in the basement of Faith's daycare center, called Play
Mountain Place. Parents and professionals testified during the
sentencing, highlighting the trauma their children experienced. Dr.
Steven Berkowitz, a child psychiatrist professor, emphasized that
such experiences could have long-term impacts on the children's
emotional, mental health, and even physical well-being.
Carla
Faith received concurrent sentences for child abuse and obstructing a
peace officer.
Parents described their children's sleep
and anxiety issues that persisted after their time at Faith's
daycare. The judge emphasized that Faith's choices endangered the
safety and welfare of 26 children.
The children hidden
behind the false wall at Carla Faith's daycare were discovered during
a welfare check conducted by the Colorado Springs Police Department.
The Department of Human Services had received complaints that the
daycare was accommodating more children than their license allowed.
When officers arrived at the licensed facility, they didn't find any
children. However, upon trying to contact the owner at her residence
on the same property, they heard children making noise. This led them
to investigate further and find a false wall that led to the
basement, where they found two adults and 26 children, all under the
age of three.
The conditions at Carla Faith's daycare,
Play Mountain Place, were alarming and led to her conviction. Many of
the children found in the basement had soiled or wet diapers and were
sweaty and thirsty. The environment was not suitable for the
well-being of the children, as shown by the long-term emotional and
mental health impact on them. Parents reported that their children
suffered from sleep and anxiety issues that persisted, requiring
ongoing counseling. The case also highlighted the daycare's operation
without a proper license and the deceitful measures taken to conceal
the number of children present.
Carla Faith was sentenced
to six years in prison for child abuse charges and attempting to
influence a public servant. She also received a $500 fine for
operating a childcare facility without a license. This verdict was
reached after a jury found her guilty on 26 counts of misdemeanor
child abuse following the discovery of children hidden behind a false
wall in her daycare's basement.
