Description
19cm-22cm (non-even size), Charles Manson Press Photograph, 1969 AP Wirephoto.
The print is largely clean and in excellent condition.
There's cosmetic damage on the front, which appears to have been caused by the adhesive used to attach the original article to the back. As a result, the gloss is affected in the areas of discolouring.
The print has a few creases, signs of age, and light wear from handling and storage.
The original dated "Dec.17" article is attached to the reverse. "DEC 18 1969" is stamped. There’s pencil writing on the back and circling of “Charles Manson” on the article. A pen mark appears to be on the back of the article, partially visible through the photograph (upper left sleeve area) due to the adhesive damage.
The article in part reads, "Charles Manson, bearded leader of a hippie-style clan, holds a pencil and pad of paper as he leaves courtroom Wednesday after telling the judge he wants to act as his own attorney when he comes to trial on charges of murdering actress Sharon Tate and six others.". The article then highlights a lesser-known aspect of the trial, when Charles Manson purportedly sought legal assistance from Luke McKissack and Lawrence Steinberg.
Slightly higher contrast and distortion in scan.
The "Murder Auction" lettering is a watermark, it's not on the actual item.
