Lester Ford, born on February 11, 1963, in St. Albans, Queens, New York, is a convicted serial killer and serial rapist. He is known for the brutal murders of three women in Queens during the early months of 1991. His criminal activities led to his arrest and subsequent conviction, resulting in a life sentence.
Early Life
Ford grew up in a family with five siblings. His early life was marked by trouble with the law; he was arrested in 1979 for a botched drug deal and served ten years in prison. After his release in 1989, he returned to his neighborhood and attempted to live quietly, earning the nickname “Justice” from local residents.
Murders
The series of murders attributed to Ford began on January 6, 1991, when he killed Sheilda Dixon, a 36-year-old mother of two. After attacking her near Gethsemane Baptist Church, he taped her mouth shut and strangled her before disposing of her body at Peters Park baseball field. This murder was followed by the killing of Tracy Covington on February 23, 1991; she was also strangled outside her home.
In addition to these murders, Ford committed several sexual assaults during this period. On July 4, he raped a 16-year-old girl but did not kill her. Later that month, on July 24, he attacked Sabrina Fost, who was eight months pregnant at the time. He raped her and shot her in the face; although she survived long enough to give birth to her baby Brian, she succumbed to her injuries later that day.
Arrest and Conviction
Ford’s criminal activities came to an end when he was arrested on July 26, 1991. His arrest followed positive identification by one of his rape victims. He faced multiple charges including three counts of murder and rape. In March 1992, Ford accepted a plea agreement where he confessed to his crimes and received a sentence of life imprisonment with a minimum term of 40 years.
Since then, Lester Ford has been incarcerated at Elmira Correctional Facility in New York State.
