Letter/envelope set from the decease Illinois Lipstick Killer.
This auction is for a letter from deceased Illinois "Lipstick Killer" William George Heirens (11/15/1928 - 3/5/2012). Between 1945 and 1946, 17-year-old William Heirens attacked five women, murdering three. He found sexual release through burglaries and extreme violence. One of his victims was a six-year-old girl, who William Heirens dismembered. Messages were left at the murder scenes in lipstick, hence the moniker of Lipstick Killer. William Heirens would be arrested and confessed under what some would call "duress," quite literally tortured at the hands of law enforcement officers. An attempted of a plea of innocent by reason of insanity was introduced, blaming the murders on an alter ego, George Murman, the "Murder Man." That failed. He would receive a life sentence on 9/5/1946. William Heirens died of natural caused on 3/5/2012. He was 83.
