Letter/envelope set from the deceased Texas double murderer.
This auction is for a letter from deceased Texas double murderer Joseph Roland Lave (10/17/1964 - 5/17/2017). On 11/25/1992, Joseph Lave, with accomplices James Langston and Timothy Bates, committed a brutal double murder. Using a key to a sporting goods store that Langston had when he was employed there, the three let themselves inside 30 minutes after closing. The three tied up three employees with duct tape and proceed to rob the store. According to Timothy Bates, Joseph Lave and James Langston did the actual killing, which was done with a hammer and knife, first beating the three victims in the head and then cutting their throats. The third victim survived as her arteries had not been severed. She identified James Langston as one of her attackers. James Langston would be killed later that evening by police when they went to arrest him. Timothy Bates would be arrested shortly after that. He snitched on Joseph Lave, who turned himself into police on 11/30/1992. Timothy Bates took a plea deal for life imprisonment and testified against Joseph Lave, who would be convicted and sentenced to death on 10/10/1994. Joseph Lave died of natural causes on 5/17/2017. He was 52.
