Letter/envelope set from the California Riverside Prostitute Killer.
This auction is for a letter from the California "Riverside Prostitute Killer" William Lester Suff, also known as the Lake Elsinore Killer. Bill Suff is one of California's higher body count serial murderers. His case was drastically overshadowed in the press by the arrest and trial of Hollywood socialite and sports star Mr. O.J. Simpson. Bill Suff was born Bill Lee Suff, a point he likes to make, insisting his name is NOT legally William. While married and living in Texas he was convicted of beating his two-month-old daughter to death in 1974. He ended up severing 10 of his 70 year sentence. Bill Suff would find himself arrested, again for murder, on 1/9/1992. Prosecutors charged Bill Suff with the rape and murder of 13 women. Stabbing and strangulation was the main method of murder, with some victim mutilation. The jury returned 12 guilty verdicts on 7/19/1995. He would be sentenced to death on 10/26/1995. It has been alleged that Suff used the breast of one of his victims in his chili, which won the Riverside County Employee Chili Cook-Off, a charge he flatly denies. Bill Suff cites police sergeant with circulating the rumor to tant the jury pool prior to his trail. Bill Suff is suspected in murdering at least 10 additional women. Despite the evidence against him Bill Suff has maintained his innocence, stating his never killed anyone at any point in his life. He has remained disciplinary free and is considered a model prisoner.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive five pages on three sheets, dated 3/21/2004, and signed, "Bill S." In the body of the letter Suff goes into corruption at the Riverside Police Department, especially a police sergeant, in charge of investigating his case. There's' a postscript where Suff initials, "B.L.S. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 3/23/2004.
