Letter/envelope set from the murdered Freeway Killer and William Bonin accomplice.
This auction is for a letter from murdered California "Freeway Killer" Gregory Matthew Miley (8/5/1961 – 5/25/2016). Between 1979 to 1980, William Bonin, with accomplices Gregory Miley, James Munro, Vernon Butts, and William Pugh, abducted, raped, and murder 21 young men and boys. 12 of those murders were with the assistance of his accomplices. William Bonin was a convicted sexual predator and eventually found himself on police radar, who arrested him in the act of raping a 17-year-old victim in his van on 6/11/1980. Vernon Butts killed himself awaiting trial. Gregory Miley received a 25 year to life. James Munro received a 15 year to life sentence and is still serving out his sentence. William Pugh served five years in state prison and was paroled. William Bonin was executed 2/23/1996. Gregory Miley was attacked on the prison yard 5/23/2016 and died as a result of his injuries 5/25/2016. He was 54.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is dated 1/6/1998 and signed, "Greg Miley." Miley mentions his accomplice James Munro in the letter. Another question of who wrote the letter here? Writing wasn't Miley's strong suit. The date appears to be in his hand, but the rest of the letter is debatable for sure. The envelope is in his handwriting, though. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 1/7/1998. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board and have been stored flat.
