Chung Ling Soo, original name William Ellsworth Campbell, (born 1861, New York, New York, U.S.—died March 23, 1918, London, England), American conjurer who gained fame in England by impersonating a Chinese magician, both on and off the stage.
He is mostly remembered today for his extensive use of yellowface in his act to falsely represent himself to be a Chinese man who spoke little English, as well as for his accidental death due to a failed bullet catch trick. He would be hit in the chest and would die on stage.
