This auction is for a filed Superior Court of the State of California for the County of Los Angeles document from the trial of the murderer of U.S. Senator and Democratic Presidential Candidate Robert F. Kennedy Sirhan Bishara Sirhan. On 6/5/1968, Sirhan assassinated Kennedy at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles. Kennedy would die the following day. Sirhan would be convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment. On 8/30/2019, Sirhan was stabbed by another inmate. He survived the attack.
ITEM DESCRIPTION: The minute document is dated 4/9/1969, embossed by the clerk's office 4/10/1969, and filed 4/11/1969 (that's the blue stamp). The document reads: Trial is resumed from April 8, 1969. The jury and alternates are returned from the hotel in the custody of the Sheriff to the jury room at 8:30 am. In open court: The People's opening argument is made and concluded. The jury and alternates are admonished and further proceedings are continued to April 10, 1969, at 9:30 am. Remanded. The jury and alternates are taken to the hotel in the custody of the Sheriff and locked up for the night. As you can read, the prosecution has made their opening statement, certainly a historical moment in American true crime history. The document has been stored flat and is in pristine condition.
