Letter/envelope set from Utah's first serial killer.
This auction is for a letter from Utah's first serial killer Walter Kelbach. In 1966, Kelbach, with accomplice Myron Lance, went on a murder spree. Their first victim was an 18-year-old gas station attendant. He was abducted by Kelbach and Lance and brought out to the desert. The pair raped him then "flipped for it" to see who would get to kill him. Kelbach won and repeatedly stabbed the young man to death. They repeated this act the next day, this time Lance winning the coin toss. The pair would go on to commit four additional murders. They were arrested on 12/21/1966 and subsequently sentenced to death. Their sentences were commuted to life in 1972. Myron Lance died of natural causes in 2010. He was 69. Kelbach died in 2018. He was 80.
