Letter/envelope set from the executed Alabama letter bomber.
This auction is for a letter from executed Alabama letter bomber Walter Leroy Moody, Jr. (3/24/1935 - 4/19/2018). On 12/16/1989, a mail bomb sent by Water Moody killed a U.S. federal judge at his Alabama home. The judge's wife was severely injured but survived. On 12/18/1989, a second mail bomb killed a civil rights attorney. Multiple bombs were found in transit and defused, targeting judges and the NAACP. Walter Moody was arrested on 7/13/1990. He would be convicted in both state and federal trials, receiving a death sentence on the state level. Moody had previously sentenced to a five year prison term in relation to a mail bomb blowing up in his home, injuring his wife, on 5/7/1972. Accidents happen, I do suppose. Moody would be executed on 4/19/2018. He was 83.
