Illustrated from photographs. 20.5x13 cm. (8x5¼"), photo-pictorial green wrappers. Rare booklet extolling the virtues of the pseudo-utopian community carved out of the jungles of Guyana by members of the San Francisco-based People's Temple, a quasi-religious organization founded in 1955 by the Reverend Jim Jones. After Congressman Leo Ryan was gunned down on the tarmac of a local airstrip by Temple guards when he was escorting Temple members who wished to leave Jonestown, Jones ordered over 900 of his followers to commit suicide by drinking cyanide-lace grape-flavored Flavor Aid (not the Kool-Aid of popular lore).
