This auction is for a birthday card from Washington "Green River Killer" Gary Leon Ridgway. Between 1982 and 1998, Gary Ridgway murdered at least four women. He would be arrested on 11/30/2001. As part of a plea agreement, Gary Ridgway agreed to take the wrap for 48 unsolved Green River murders. In exchange for his confession, Gary Ridgway would be spared the death penalty. There was enormous pressure on police to solve these cases. There's little doubt that Gary Ridgway was a serial killer and most certainly some of the unsolved murders were perpetrated by his hands, but all 48? On 12/18/2003, Gary Ridgway would be sentenced to 48 life without parole terms.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The birthday card is signed, "Gary." The original mailing envelope is postmarked 10/8/2020. Ridgway has always been rather reclusive, not usually responding to correspondence solicitation.
