Description

This auction is for a letter from Louisiana serial killer John Brooks. In 1986, Brooks committed a series of murders, with robbery as the primary motive. He would be arrested on 12/29/1986 and charged with eight murders. Brooks would be convicted on six murders and was sentenced to death. His death sentences were vacated in 1995 and after a jury deadlocked on the retrial of the penalty phase, Brooks was re-sentenced to life imprisonment without the possibility of parole in 1997. Brooks remains the prime suspect in three additional murders.

ITEM DESCRIPTION: The missive is two pages on two legal size sheets of stationery, dated 3/19/2006, and is signed, "John." Brooks has written his full name and address on the top of the first page. The original mailing envelope is postmarked 3/20/2006 with a black prison stamp on the reverse. The letter and envelope come inside a protective magazine sleeve with an acid free board.
