Lewis Edward Lawes(September 13, 1883 – April 23, 1947) was aprison wardenand a proponent ofprison reform. During his 21-year tenure atSing Sing Correctional Facility, he supervised the executions of 303 prisoners including Albert Fish.
Lawes died of acerebral hemorrhageon April 23, 1947 at age 63 inGarrison, New York.He was interred atSleepy Hollow CemeteryinSleepy Hollow,New York.
